After working 5 years at the bank, I decided it was best for my clients and myself to work independently. With aspirations to have a family in the future, it is important for me to strike that work-life balance. Inbound home loans was a big eye opener for me to the banking realm. I learned a great deal about credit risk, sales and customer relationship management. Whilst working in this position, I was given many secondment opportunities in team leadership, facilitation and business improvement which really allowed me to identify what I enjoy most and what I am best at within the bank. This was my first job post university and was a challenging job to say the least. The job involved cold calling existing NAB clients with the objective to create a referral to a NAB financial planner. At this point in time, my objective was to become a financial planner, however I soon realised that this was not the correct path for me. I gained valuable insight into risk protection and how many Australians have either little to no protection for there lifestyle.

This was a great job to have whilst at University. I was able to work roughly 2 to 3 shifts per week and allowed me to gain some very valuable skills. I worked at about 9 or 10 different stores in my time working as a superviser which was quite valuable towards my communication and leadership skills. It also instilled some resilience in me. I started at KFC when I was 15 and got promoted to management when I was 18. I worked at KFC for a total of 6 years.
