I did a lot of research. I helped David Kotz run his lab (he was in the Dean's office, at the time). I mentored graduate and undergraduate students, wrote papers, and thought big ideas about what I wanted to do with my research career. I also wrote grant proposals.

Summer research project with Roy Want and Trevor Pering, looking at different technologies for composing various services between computing devices.

I'm not sure I remember. I helped them sort out some simple technical issues they were having. Great group of people trying to address significant education problems in struggling communities around the world.

I wrote C, Java, and C# code that helped automotive technicians fix cars faster.

I wrote C/C++ code that 1) collected and processed data from roadside traffic sensors, and 2) allowed small TV stations to put together a solid news program on a tight budget. Those two projects probably sound like they couldn't fit in a single company. That's a story for another time.

I built a distributed model checker, patterned after the foraging behaviors of honeybees. I haven't done any formal verification since, but I learned to love research. It also inspired me to keep bees for a few years.

I wrote automated tests for the company's online document management applications. It was a great student job that helped me see the value of testing and validation.
