I worked with the Menlo Park Legends, a collegiate summer baseball team in the Bay Area Collegiate League. I kept score during games and provided coaches with data and statistics they needed to help make lineups. I worked on coding projects, including calculating statistics, some of which were new statistics I developed in collaboration with the coaches, helping them add quantitative measures to their coaching. I explained my findings to the coaches and players, who had varying levels of knowledge of statistical methods. I wrote articles for the Legends website, including game recaps and longer-form pieces during the season. I wrote a season recap article which focused on the positives of each player’s season. I managed and created content for the Twitter feed, which included live game updates along with interviews with coaches and players, for which I was both behind the camera and the on-camera interviewer.
