The Hopkinton Parks & Recreation hosts an 8-hour summer day camp at one of the elementary schools for five to seven-year old’s, which organizes games throughout the day to keep them entertained while their parents are at work. · Instituted a schedule every day filled with games and eating times to ensure entertainment for the kids at the camp, keeping the day organized and planned out to display to the parents that the camp is well run· Communicated with a team of 7 counselors to ensure that the camp runs smoothly and that every kid is accounted for, which built management and teamwork skills· Acted as the first point of contact for parents dropping off their kid, creating a positive environment, especially for sobbing kids who don’t want to leave their guardian· Increased the retention rate of kids by 30%, with parents calling in to mention how much his/her kid has enjoyed playing with the tall counselor to the boss· Oversaw the playground and applied first aid to any kid that managed to injure themselves on said playground, showing responsibility by maintaining safety for the camp

The Ambassador club met twice a week for the entire school year to discuss with 50 foreign exchange students to help them adjust to their new setting. On the weekends, the club planned and executed fun events in Hopkinton and the surrounding area that all of them were invited to.· Organized and planned events to make sure that the foreign exchange students can see what American kids in high school do for fun around the weekends. For example, the club made sure to take full advantage of the surrounding area such as taking them to the Red Sox and Patriots parade when they won their titles.· Created a friendly environment for the foreign exchange students so they felt like they fitted in with American society, and ended up being voted “Best Ambassador” by the exchange students.· Communicated effectively with teachers to make sure that they welcome the students in the club, which turned into the school Mandarin teacher taking our Taiwanese foreign exchange student along with two student ambassadors to Cambridge to show them the downtown, which has both Harvard and MIT.
