Jacob Susman is a clean economy business builder, investor, and thought leader who has been developing and originating renewable energy projects for over 20 years. He is the CEO and co-founder of Ambient Fuels, a green hydrogen developer guiding heavy industry through the great green upgrade. With Jigar Shah, Jacob co-founded CleanTech Leaders Roundtable, a private community of business leaders working to scale their collective efforts to combat climate change and build a thriving clean economy. He currently serves as CTLR’s Board President. Jacob is also a board member of REpowering Schools, an organization working to educate K12 and college students and their communities about renewable energy. Jacob has decades of experience as a finance professional and project developer with a global power sector network. After studying business at Wharton, Jacob joined Goldman Sachs as a principal investor, where he was instrumental in its successful investment in Horizon Wind Energy. He then left Goldman to found OwnEnergy, where he led the business through the full venture cycle, leading the company's board and managing its successful sale to the global leader in renewable energy, EDF Renewables.While at EDF, Jacob served as its executive leader of customer-facing activities in its US Grid Scale Power business, with a primary focus on originating long-term power contracts with corporate and utility customers. After leaving EDF, he co-founded Mission Driven Capital Partners, a growth capital fund targeting investments in corporate sustainability, an effort that is being continued within Goldman Sachs today.Jacob served for five years on the Board of the American Wind Energy Association, including two years on its Executive Committee. He also served on the boards of the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance and of the American Council on Renewable Energy. In 2010, Jacob was named to Crain's New York “40 Under 40,” and in 2012, he was an E&Y Entrepreneur Of The Year Finalist. In 2013, Greentech Media named Jacob one of New York’s Top 10 Cleantech Leaders.Jacob holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He serves on several community boards. An avid skier, Jacob lives with his wife, Jodi, and two daughters in Brooklyn, New York.
