Jacob (he/him/his) completed his PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Emory University. His research focused on autoreactive- antibody-mediated ocular and neurological sequelae following flavivirus infection, sexual variances in Zika pathology within immune-privileged organs, and optimizing Zika  vaccine candidates using dissolving polymer microneedle technology. He has presented his findings at the International Symposia for Vaccines (ISV), the Keystone Symposium for Positive-Stranded RNA viruses, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and as an invited guest speaker at the Georgia Institute for Technology. Jacob has published his findings in Frontiers in Immunology and the Journal of Controlled Release, expanding the boundaries of flavivirus immunology and vaccinology in collaboration with prominent immunologists and biomedical engineers. In his free time, Jacob enjoys watching movies, knitting baby hats for local hospitals, and exploring geological dig-sites for semi-precious gems and fossils.
