I did not start music as a way of getting rich. The reason I started making music is Because it's my life, because it's my passion, Music is a central part of who I am, and what I do, I have to make music or I would burst. I write songs whenever the muse allows me to. For me, its about the search for mystery. The idea that there is magic in everyday life and writing songs is one way of holding on to it for an instant. That's why I make music. Now If you want mass success and recognition enough, you can have it. I promise you this is true. If you want it badly enough and don't care how long it takes, you can have it... but it comes at a price. The price is that you have to be totally single minded, completely driven. And you have to value success above security, stability, peace of mind, certainty, comfort, having money in your pocket, friendship, love, or family. Because those are the people who you're competing against. You're competing against Monsters who are so driven that that's the thing that they do. And that's why the big stars are all divorced, are drug addicts, have breakdowns or even commit suicide. The pressures of living that kind of life are enormous. But my advice to you based on experience: having lost all relationships, addicted to heroin, and suicidal -I can tell you that that kind of life isn't worth that kind of price, and I from personal experience would recommend to you that you focus on your Art. A balanced life and making great music, and let the other stuff take care of itself. Because If you focus on  integrity, creativity, innovation, originality, finding your strength, and pushing your boundaries, That's the way to make the best possible music because in that way you will be living a balanced life. You should not depend on anything or anyone to determine if or when or how you create. Only ever follow your passion. This will determine everything for you. That's it. That’s all my advice to you.
