Hi! My name is Jacoby Brown, and I hold a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies- Recording and Production and a minor in General Business, from Appalachian State University. I am originally from Greenville, SC but spent most of my childhood in Houston, TX. I enjoy all types of music, but my favorites are R&B, Jazz, Classical, and Country! I'm also a violinist, and have been playing since the age of 12. A fun fact about me is that I have perfect pitch, it's a fairly rare talent that allows me to identify and reproduce a specific pitch without having to hear it!I have had many opportunities to explore the music industry. As a Freshman at Appalachian State University, I assisted with Live at RFG, which is the Hayes School of Music's music discovery platform that is produced with RFG Recoding Studio and App State TV. I then took over to become Lead Engineer. I was also a part of the Hayes School of Music Concert Recording Team. This team of eight records, edits, and archives over 200 concerts each semester.I have had professional experience working and networking in major recording studios such as The Castle Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. During my time at The Castle I aided in the facilitation of client recording sessions and maintained artist relationships. This opportunity strengthened my interpersonal skills, allowing me to network with artists such as Darius Rucker and Thomas Rhett.During my time at Appalachian, I was a part of many clubs such as the Black Student Association (BSA) and App State CURE. I also established a club of my own, the Black Sound Engineers of App State (BSEA), who provide networking opportunities with music industry professionals to African- American students who are interested in the music industry. One of my biggest achievements was making networking with Mischke Butler, American singer, songwriter, and vocal producer who has worked with Micheal Jackson, The Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and many other well known artists. I look forward to growing in my career, and aspire to make a lasting impact in the entertainment industry through opportunities that I am able to achieve.
