This was achieved by means of liaising with head office in Italy and other business units regarding global ICT strategies, optimizing the use of the ICT budget, implementation of cost reduction strategies and ensuring operational excellence through ICT integration and optimization.Secondly, due to a change in the ERP solution from SysPro to SAP, project management was very important. Syspro required business analysis, design, integration and administration, and during the SAP rollout, I was responsible for platform readiness, data migration and the communications infrastructure.Achievements:Through my budget optimization, IT costs was significantly reduced (by 30%), without any real risk to the daily operations. Through the focus on operational excellence, appropriate funds and management went into our design office, which allowed the CAD/CAM designers to operate more efficiently and cost effectively. In doing so, comparing man hours spent to available budget and allowing project manager's easy access to management information was achieved. The FIS experience was simplified and centralized by seamless integration with the ERP system.ECR allowed a complete audit trail for all engineering changes, including management at various organizational levels, as well as validation of requests against available budgets which fed into the project managers' overall project budget. For the first time, managers were able to quickly and accurately see all expenditures relating to a task in one location. Various scheduled data extractions were still being dumped into excel using SQL server DTS. Information was gathered from different sources (local store databases, the central database at head office, data deciphered from an incoming linefeed and results captured and displayed from Ladbrokes' web development team). The result (SMSBetting) was one of the first products in the UK to SMS (text message) punters their racing results in real-time.I expanding and streamlined Ladbrokes's (a subsidiary of the parent company registered on the FTSE100) shop bet taking system. This is a client-server Visual Basic 6.0 suite of applications running on SQL Server, with each shop having a fail over local database that needs to be synchronized with the central server at head office. Scalability was a huge issue, as there are over 2000 shops, and each shop might run multiple instances of the application. By implementing this solution, the whole business was automated including tasks like taking bets, doing payouts, printing receipts, calculating payouts and creating/managing exceptions for auditing purposes.I formed part of the company wide drive in promoting the development and use of software for the handheld/mobile platforms. We were particularly looking into how mobile devices can be implemented in the construction industry to ensure cost effectiveness onsite. This was later expanded to Benjy's, one of the largest snack food chains in the UK.By using the latest technologies, I reengineered the legacy website from ASP/HTML to an interactive ASP.Net and SQL server site.
