Establishment of the Industrial Gas Users Association - Southern Africa, a platform that provides a consensus platform for large industrial gas users focused on the efficient development of the gas economy and infrastructure in Southern Africa. Strategic input and broad spectrum stakeholder management across the public and private sectors including National Government, State Owned Enterprises, Energy Regulators, international oil majors, industrial gas users, financial institutions etc.

Responsible for group strategy development and implementation in areas of procurement practices such as strategic sourcing of commodities (polymer, aluminium, steel, paper, coatings, virgin raw materials for glass manufacturing), supply chain operations (warehousing, logistics, international shipping), supplier risk & relationship management. Optimising and leveraging of input costs through strategic and coordinated sourcing initiatives across operations in 11 countries i.e. United Kingdom, South Africa, Nigeria, Angola, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Isle of Man and Ethiopia. Leading a team of commodity specialists, analysts and other internal stakeholders globally to define and deliver value from procurement category strategies within a spend environment across multiple manufacturing operations. Development of tax optimised international procurement model in respect of transfer pricing.

Responsible for group supply chain strategy development and implementation in areas of procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier risk & relationship management, warehousing, logistics, and vendor management across all operations. Responsible for leading a supply chain team of approximately 60 consisting of senior managers in procurement, analysis & planning, supply chain operations, contracts and capital investment program departments. Leading strategic sourcing initiatives and contract negotiations locally and internationally of key commodities and services including amongst other, key raw materials (silica, soda ash, lime etc.); energy products (electricity, natural gas, LPG, HFO’s); and all other supply chain and logistics contracts services. Implementation of supply risk mitigation strategies. The management of various long term mining and exploration programs in respect of key raw materials. The redesign of an optimal and integrated supply chain network through transport modelling, inventory simulation, facility requirements, business process engineering and cost trade-off studies. The ongoing review of existing SAP systems and technology to effect and support supply chain strategy. The ongoing management of Consol Glass recycling program nationally through the continuous investment and development of approximately 300 vendors and franchisees to achieve volume growth targets. Direct management and control of Consol’s internal and external warehousing and distribution operations nationally. Management and control of Consol’s inbound supply chain operations nationally and internationally. Modelling and economic forecasting of input costs for pricing and budgeting purposes.

With Eskom in various supply chain capacities including development of international 4PL project solutions for major customers i.e. Pep Stores, Pebble Bed Modular Reactor Programme; negotiating, designing and implementing of supply chain concepts for multi-year materials importation from Japan to South Africa for Marubeni/Sasol for major refinery expansions; successfully establishing company in first international venture in Middle East; and the successful global end-to-end logistics management for various power station projects in Africa.
