In addition, as a research professor in Population Health, I am the principle investigator/project director for the Seven Generations Center of Excellence in Native Behavioral Health (SGCoE); the National Indigenous Elder Justice Initiative (NIEJI); the NIEJI Innovation Grant, and the Wac'in Yeya: The Hope Project. The SGCoE provides training, support, and resources for Native Americans training to be behavioral health professionals. NIEJI is a national resource center that provides culturally appropriate resources on elder abuse for American Indian tribes, Alaska Native villages, and Native Hawaiian homesteads throughout the U.S. The NIEJI Innovation provides for mini-grants for elder abuse to tribes, an elder abuse survey, and additional training modules for professionals. Wac'in Yeya is a pilot research project with the Oglala Sioux Lakota Housing program to determine what gives Lakota youth hope.
