I have lead a team of drilling fluids application engineers (7) support laboratory (9) and administration/HSE (2) since December 2014. In this role my team and I have provided support to Baker Hughes drilling fluids across the Eastern Hemisphere including South East Asia; Africa; Europe; China; Australia and Middle East. This has involved a wide range of activities, solving field problems, providing tender support and submission information as well as quality control and some product development. Skills I have developed in this position included my ability to communicate well across all levels and locations using all available media. I have learned to identify critical opportunities through my customer and market knowledge and used that to appropriately allocate resources. I have used my HR proficiencies to manage recruitment, career development and performance, succession planning and discipline as required. I have an excellent record and healthy respect for matters of HSE and have motivated my team to achieve the highest standards of quality.

In my final role at MI I lead a laboratory team providing technical support for the UK drilling fluids operations of MI-SWACO. That involved a wide range of activities including tender submissions and quality control of drilling fluids. During my service at MI I also worked in R&D where I played a key role in the design and building of a fully automated system for measuring fluid loss remotely. The project required creative thinking coupled with the ability to communicate that to other members of the team to make the ideas a reality. I validated the system at a customer yard trial in Norway where several other automated systems were also tested.
