I'm building a strong Issues and Program Communications Division to outreach to both our internal and external audiences. As the director, I provide strategic advice to senior management on complex and sensitive issues; provide direction and manage the implementation of targeted communications programs aimed at special publics, including identifying target audiences, establishing the goals and objectives, and developing appropriate themes and tactics; and maintain a strong cohesive team.

Played a leading role in communications and planning activities throughout the deficit reduction process from June 2011 through the implementation of the budget reductions, including workforce adjustments. As the director I provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management on the optimum planning, management and utilization of communications services; the communications implications of proposed changes in operations; and the interpretation and implementation of central agency communications policies and procedures. In addition, I manage and direct communications in both a reactive and proactive capacity regarding issues management, ministerial/parliamentary/media relations and strategic communications planning; and oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of corporate and internal communications plan, ensuring that communications initiatives reflect a corporate focus and include clear communications objectives and strategies that respond to Council communications requirements.My first task upon arrival was to develop and implement the reorganization of the communications division to a directorate.

Coordinated media relations activities such as media conferences, events, launches, media calls for various clients. For one client I managed a three-month media relations campaign with an audience reach of 15.4 million.Produced a series of vignettes for a government department and then managed the media relations component, resulting in an audience reach of 9.2M and an estimated value of $1.06M.
