I work as an executive leader to support communities achieve their aspiration. These diverse experiences granted me many incredible opportunities including sometime witnessing our challenges in building strong, sustainable, and genuinely inclusive communities. I find myself driven to seek ways to employ strategic planning, governance knowledge, and community development skills to support communities and their leaders who are trying to bring teams together, respond to changing needs and circumstances, and break down the barriers that our systems pose for so many. A diverse career journey brought me here. My broad experience and accomplishments related to organizational leadership, community development, local government, and non-profit organizations granted me access to many perspectives. I continue to work to better understand diverse interests, engage unheard voices, and synthesize ideas and information so we can better connect community aspirations with the actions and investments of organizations. My experience spans the public, non-profit, and private sectors, and my successes have been when communication, teamwork, integrity, and authenticity were strong. In addition to working for great employers and clients who are building better communities in their own ways, I've explored our colonial relationship with land through a Doctor of Design program, inspired by my own search for actions to take toward Reconciliation and equitable community building as a small response to the housing crisis and path to resiliency.

This involves implementing the strategy by integrating tactical plans emerging from social, economic, and seniors' housing development trends grounded in resident needs. I am particularly interested in promoting opportunities to age in place, focussing on solutions to sustain independent living in a diverse but cohesive community. -

General ManagerSouthern Gulf Islands Tourism Partnership Society Jan 2020 - Dec 2023Southern Gulf Islands, British Columbia, CanadaI encountered this extraordinary group of southern gulf islanders a few years ago and our collaborative work was a significant part of my work life. I supported a dedicated volunteer board of directors as they led their five communities in creating a regional forum and strategies to develop and promote destination stewardship and experiences that positively contribute to a much broader preserve and protect mandate for fragile island ecosystems. It was about improving local quality of life through a regenerative approach to their local travel economy. They inspire, delight, challenge, and offer a delicious creative outlet for that part of me who sees the best that a community can be.
