I have taught English in Europe, Australia and the Middle East, to students from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. I specialized in teaching Business English and Cambridge and IELTS. I have been an examiner for IELTS and Cambridge exams. While at Language Studies International I designed and developed the Business English course, which I updated constantly to maintain its relevance in a changing business world. For my work on this programme I was nominated for the James Gallagher Award. After several years of teaching I moved into management and became first the Director of Studies and then the Principal and Australian Director of LSI Brisbane.In the Middle East I was a Programme Leader of an English Language Programme in Princess Nora University. I then went on to work with the Oxford Partnership, a joint venture that was part of the Colleges of Excellence programme - a Saudi initiative to supply vocational training. The Oxford Partner ship had 4 colleges in KSA, at Medina, Sakaka, Arar and Qurayat. I started at Sakaka as a team leader, then went on to become vice principal, then principal of Arar.I have designed and developed curriculum for exam courses, Academic English, Business English and General English for all levels. I have presented Professional Development sessions on various aspects of teaching English and worked on developing quality assurance guidelines such as Speaking and Writing descriptors for standardization of marking.Since Covid I have been semi-retired. I still work as an English examiner for IELTS and I help run the family gardening business. I am also involved in volunteer work and am in the process of working for a Master Composter's certificate with the Brisbane Council working towards getting the community to think before disposing of waste.
