Charged with overseeing, planning, implementing, and inspecting the entire state of Hawaii’s motorized safety unit. Including obtaining protective equipment, modifying vehicles, implementing processes, and providing guidance/regulations. Ensure that the district under my direction has the guidance and tools they need to safely complete their tasks. Also, provides safety processes and policy training and performs inspections while on-site visits. Furthermore, motivates all state personnel to apply safe working practices and encourages strategic partnerships within the agency. Negotiates, manages and advises on procurement efforts for the safety division, including evaluating offers and awarding contracts.• Lead safety operations for motorized equipment for the state of Hawaii. Which includes performing site surveys, safety audits, implementation of new procedures, and accident analyzation.• Successfully manage and conducts Statewide safety training sessions for employees and vendors, including devising hazard control measures for the industrial or construction working conditions.• Participates and conducts local exercises in efforts to streamline processes pertaining to state’s emergency response and safety.• Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards, including OSHA, EPA, etc.• Inspected, obtained, and replaced all of the DOT’s outdated AEDs. Thus, ensuring the latest viable equipment is available to employees in case of emergency.• Evaluating and determining causal factors contributing to workplace mishaps and resulting in hazardous or unsafe working conditions.• Understands behavioral highway safety, injury prevention, and public health issues, programs, and policies for the State.
