Growing up, I was raised by a Mother from a small rural town in Mexico amidst the Mountains and Desert and a Father Raised on the diverse, boisterous West Side of Chicago. Raised as a First Generation American, they allowed me to experience two worlds. Exposed to the many Riches of my Culture, I became all too familiar of the duplicities of growing up in Communities that were oftentimes misrepresented and unheard. And so began my journey to build upon not only a career, but a vocation in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. As a Senior at Meta, I've gained extensive experience building and leading collaborative teams in matrixed, robust environments, mentoring team members, and advocating on behalf of historically underrepresented individuals while envisioning and executing comprehensive, evidence-based DEI strategies that take into consideration our communities evolving needs' given our increasingly interconnected world. As a Leader within the industry, my aim is to Restore Jobs and Provide Economic Opportunity & Dignity in Communities oftentimes underrepresented or unheard. Prior to Meta, My experiences have allowed me to acquire strong analytical, written and verbal communication skillsets, while working as a Researcher & Congressional Staffer on Capitol Hill, advising on a portfolio of policy issues in relation to Workforce Development, Education Reform & Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Policies and Mandates in the Workplace. Outside of the Workplace, I look to align my values in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion through Public Service & Leadership, such as Running and being Elected to serve on the Board of Education for one of the Largest and more Diverse School Districts in the State of Illinois and working to pass Equity Policy 2.250 with the primary objective of ensuring that, by graduation, all students would meet or exceed college and career ready standards and be fully prepared to become contributing members of society through programs for work-based learning, dual college enrollment and alternative pathways to earning industry credentials.
