Profile bio

About Jacqueline Ackerman

My passion is conducting rigorous research to grow women’s philanthropy. I enjoy building relationships and using my knowledge and experience to deliver research with real-world applications. The daughter of a medical aid worker, I grew up in Haiti where I saw first-hand the best and worst aspects of philanthropy and nonprofits. During grad school, I returned to Haiti to intern with the leading microfinance organization, which reinforced my desire to support women’s and girls’ causes around the world. Over the last decade, I have grown my career within the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, supporting and leading research on a variety of aspects of charitable giving. In my current role, I lead an ambitious research agenda focusing on gender and philanthropy, emphasizing an intersectional lens in each study WPI conducts. My goal through my work is to move WPI research into action, delivering insights to donors, fundraisers, and sector leaders that grow women’s giving and deepen fundraisers’ engagements with women donors. I aim to continue broadening the reach of WPI research, building partnerships and relationships to get our work into the hands of those who need it most.
