Engage in professional development training in the discipline of Preventive Cardiology/Cardiac Rehabilitation under the guidance and supervision of the Past President of the American College of Sports Medicine, and Applied Physiology Program Director, an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Preventive and Rehabilitative Practitioner. Our lab administers CPET, which stands for Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing, a highly versatile test that is able to evaluate the complex interplay between the cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic systems while a patient exercises. This detailed assessment provides valuable insights into a patient's physiological response to physical exertion, allowing healthcare professionals to uncover underlying pathology. By measuring parameters such as oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide production, and heart rate, CPET can offer a comprehensive evaluation of cardiorespiratory and metabolic function.

Work collaboratively with and accountable to Director of the Applied Physiology Program. Responsible for planning, development and general effectiveness of the clinical education program.

Jacqueline is part of the clinical team at Columbia University-TC Exert Clinic & Laboratory, and the Founder of Burnes Health serving as the Director of Preventive Cardiology /Cardiac Rehabilitation Enrollment & Services. She is trained in diagnostic cardiology (non-invasive) and the non-pharmacological treatment and management of CVD patients: heart attack, heart failure, coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve repair or replacement, heart or lung transplant, angioplasty with or without stent, peripheral artery disease, pulmonary hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; with specific clinical interests in primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, cardiac rehabilitation, and preventive cardiology.

Dr. Burnes serves as Director of the Cardiometabolic Preventive Health Program. With the goal of preventing heart disease, health professionals at Burnes Health closely monitor specific biomarkers considered risk factors for CAD throughout the program: LDL, HDL, TC, TG, A1C, CRP (Labcorp). Once the results from the outside laboratory are received these data are provided to the client's physician to assist in determining appropriate current and future therapeutics and interventions.
