Currently I am the Managing Director of the Ed Snider Center for Enterprise and Markets at the University of Maryland, where I also teach entrepreneurship and purposeful leadership. I trace my professional success to curiosity, and resourcefulness and grit - byproducts of a childhood in a US Navy family. My training in the performing arts and an early career as a professional actress perfected my question-asking skills. Understanding motivation is crucial whether acting a scene, negotiating a contract, leading people, or creating innovative products.Prior to UMD, I was a COO and CFO in the investment management Industry helping to grow two hedge fund firms alongside their founders. I then took my agile and collaborative leadership style to the consumer electronics/software industry as CEO of startup New Wallet. As a life long learner and now instructor, I am interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, strategy and leadership. Creating an inclusive environment of trust that encourages questioning, creativity and collaboration is my goal in business, consulting and education. I believe in the power of the enterprising and entrepreneurial individual to identify and solve problems. Enterprise begins with individuals who can trade value for value in the free market system.
