Conducted extensive literature reviews and oversaw the recruitment of participants in focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and copy tests related to tobacco use, maternal child health, and other areas of public health. Coordinated qualitative data collection which entails establishing research protocol, developing focus group discussion instruments, facilitating focus group discussions and analyzing qualitative data using NVivo version 11. Obtained informed consent forms and answers questions from participants about the nature, scope, risks, and benefits of study participation.

Utilized scientific data to establish a strategic plan that included programs and activities designed to reduce the preterm birth in Houston from 10.2% to 8.1% by 2020. Managed the March of Dimes Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait initiative in partnership with local health agencies and collaborated with a program evaluation consultant to monitor the fidelity of program implementation and measure overall program effectiveness. Managed $250,000 program budget that included recording expenditures, grant dissemination, identifying program evaluation and research consultants in addition to seeking external funding for continued program support. Partnered with ConneXion Research Group to conduct a mixed methodology study designed to assess knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and barriers associated with postpartum care among approximately N = 300 clinicians and Medicaid recipients throughout Houston, Texas. Oversaw the Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait and Managed Care Organization work groups which included meeting planning, preparation, documentation, and follow up. Developed grant proposals regarding early entry into prenatal care, maternal morbidity mortality and health disparities utilized to apply for nearly $200,000 in external grant funding.

Served as evaluation lead for multiple health education and promotion initiatives (i.e., Performance Triad, Army MOVE!, Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training Program) implemented among Active Duty Soldiers in the United States Army. Coordinated qualitative data collection which entailed establishing research protocol, developing focus group discussion instruments, facilitating focus group discussions and analyzing data using NVivo version 11. Developed effective methods of quantitative data collection and applied advanced statistical analysis using SPSS version 22 and STATA version 11. Provided interpretation of program evaluation findings to stakeholders through oral presentations, memorandums, info graphics, information papers, technical reports and scientific manuscripts. Utilized program evaluation findings and scientific literature to provide stakeholders with strategic recommendations to improve health education and promotion programs implemented among Active Duty Soldiers in the United States Army.

Instructed curriculum during 25 training sessions and provided technical assistance to 35 community health workers. Developed curriculum designed to provide health education regarding key topics that included social determinants of health, health disparities, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, nutrition, physical activity, weight management, and tobacco cessation. Developed and analyzed pre-post questionnaire aimed to measure the amount of health education information gained by community health workers. Served as primary consultant to senior leadership of the Baltimore City Healthy Heartbeats program, a grantee of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities. Provided senior leadership best practices and evidence-based strategies for recruitment, coalition building, partnership development, and community outreach.

Launched and managed the Worksite Site Wellness Program, which promoted the adoption of healthy lifestyle behaviors among approximately 150 employees across 11 satellite locations. Contributed to the preparation and execution of health promotion events implemented at the annual NAACP National Convention which included a 5K walk/run, health luncheon, group fitness sessions, and health pavilion. Provided technical assistance to the Healthy Young People Everywhere Initiative by coordinating outreach activities designed to promote healthy eating, active living, chronic disease prevention, HIV/AIDS awareness, and the Affordable Care Act among college students. Contributed to the development of a childhood obesity grant proposal which received funding in the amount of $400,000 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Assisted senior management monitor fiscal budget and funding sources used to sustain operation of the NAACP's national health agenda.

Served as an assistant to the Professor, which included co-teaching public health topics such as Health Disparities, Public Health Ethics, and Behavioral Theories & Frameworks. Met with students individually to help with comprehension of learning materials and established an environment that improved student academic success. Organized the database that recorded scores and student attendance, which led to consistent reporting of violations and enforcement of academic policies.

Instructed a health education course to over 150 adolescent females throughout underserved communities designed to improve physical activity, nutrition, and health behavior choices. Developed course curriculum and educational materials pertinent to the health concerns of adolescent females, which included topics such as body image, menstruation & puberty, exercise & nutrition, peer pressure, bully, and self-esteem. Demonstrated healthy meal options and physical exercises to provide tangible examples of proper nutrition and fitness using options available within the local community. Analyzed pre-post questionnaires to measure the amount of information gained by participants, which demonstrated an increase in knowledge regarding public health and intent to implement healthy lifestyle behaviors. Developed and implemented the 2011 Community Baby Shower, which raised awareness to the issue of infant mortality among African American women, collaborated with local health agencies to provide health education to participants, and provided baby items to families in need.
