What’s your favourite graph? What a cracker of a question! Unfortunately, I can’t claim ownership; I heard it while listening to a podcast and it stopped me in my tracks. (Which was a bad thing – I was walking in the middle of a road at the time. Anyway, I digress). I do love a good question. Mine usually begin with “Why?” My own ‘why’ is to grow something bigger than myself. (Yes, I know.) At Napkin I am the strategic thinker behind the development of an IP portfolio for offshore renewables. I take the big picture, impartial view. I decide where we’re going and create the collaborations to get us there. I’m also pretty good at securing grant funding. Some of the funding I have won includes:- Innovate UK SMART- Offshore Wind Growth Partnership- BEIS Energy Entrepreneur Fund- Innovate UK Women in Innovation- Net Zero Technology Centre. TechX- EU GreenOffshore TechnologyMy skillset lies in continuously broadening my horizons, being flexible and quite often being afraid but doing it anyway. I work with others in the start-up community, routinely acting as a sounding board for their ideas and grant applications. I’m keen to support but challenge, especially around value propositions. I’m very good at explaining complicated things in a simple way. I also enjoy working with local secondary schools, introducing ideas around innovation to our young people, hopefully encouraging them to consider bolder, braver, career choices. Supporting the Court of Queen Margaret University also allows me to serve the wider community. Now back to the graph.
