After graduating with a BFA in Theatre from Syracuse University in 2002, I joined The School at Steppenwolf as their Assistant Coordinator. I then specialized in directing and teaching youth in professional theatre settings such as The University of Chicago (Anchor & Lead Teaching Artist - Chicago, IL), Long Lake Camp for the Arts (Director - Long Lake, NY) and Three Cat Education (Executive Director - Skokie, IL) as well as serving as a member of the Jeff Committee...prior to the pandemic. As I found myself swept up in all that was 2020, as was true for most of us, everything changed. For me this meant sitting with the idea that this could be an opportunity to revisit my "why" at its core, and I began to see what I was doing professionally from a different perspective with new possibilities. I was ready to shift my work in the arts from working in theatre as a director and teaching artist to navigating what it means to explore arts integration in social work. I am now pursuing my Masters in Social Work at Loyola University Chicago and am looking forward to graduating in May 2024; where, in addition to finishing my course requirements, I will be a School Social Work Intern at New Trier High School and one of the 2023-2024 Chicago Area Schweitzer Fellows.
