Compton Community College

Contracted by Compton College to teach life skills. I worked with 14 – 18 year old foster children. I implemented a curriculum provided by the Community College Foundation. The curriculum included planned workshops, inviting guest speakers, field experiences, nutrition and more.These workshops covered everything from filling out an application to relationship issues. The youth gained experience-negotiating systems like, DMV, Social Security, Hall of Records, etc. The objective was to prepare these youth for independence. The youth learned how to live, on their own once emancipated and the resources available to them.While working in this position I mentored several youth that was court appointed.
