The Associate Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality engineering support for all phases of the product lifecycle at Surmodics. This position will support the development and facilitation of quality engineering principles throughout the organization to achieve quality and regulatory compliance with the desired customer outcome.As I advance in my Data Science Masters degree program, I'm utilizing data analysis and visualization, as well as coding and implementing programs to improve quality systems.

❖ Manufactured product, prepared and submitted samples, worked in sterile environment. ❖ Analyzed data for IVD Technical dept., conducted controlled experiments for products and production plans. ❖ Analyzed data for Surmodics BioFX dept., assessing productivity and projecting future use of machinery. ❖ Evaluated, wrote, and edited controlled documents. Reviewed, issued materials, and issued job receipts for batch records through Syspro.

I set up demonstrations for all Physics courses, and have also created some demonstrations. This also requires explanation of the demonstrations and the physics involved to the professors using them. I also assist professors with technical setup for lectures.

I worked on accounting jobs the accountants didn't have time for, i.e., helping with journal entries, scanning documents to their imaging system, checking on closed accounts. I also helped to organize old accounts and other confidential information.

I worked on Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and Postscript files, converting one to another type, and also had experience working with and fixing with printers, copiers, scanning software and machines. I've also had to assist in the installation of these machines. I created binders of information given to the attendees of the Coating Process Fundamentals Short Course, and contacted businesses and people to sign up for the Short Course. I was in charge of keeping track of, ordering, and organizing supplies. Also, as a side project, I edited, made figures, and contacted publishing companies for copyright permissions for Prof. Francis’ upcoming textbook. I have experience from this working with vector drawing programs, and Excel documents.

This lab is researching how to make more efficient hard drives. I helped test the magnetism of metal samples on a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), and assisted in caring for the sputtering machine. I’ve studied First Order Reversal Curves and their relation to the exchange coupling constant. Left because it was unpaid, and I needed a paying job.

I helped construct and test the modules that make up the NOvA neutrino detector. For most of the time I worked there I led a student team that conducted final quality checks of the modules, before they were shipped. I also helped in the initial stages of constructing the modules.Left because the factory was shutting down.
