Overseen by my mentor, Dr. David Luther, I worked with mist-net capture data from the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragmentation Project to examine the impacts of forest fragmentation on bird reproductive success in the Amazon basin.I presented my research and poster titled “The Impacts of Forest Fragmentation on Avian Age Structure” at the GMU College Of Science Undergraduate Research Colloquium, where I won the award for best poster.

On a part-time basis, I cared for equine within a private barn which included grooming, feeding, blanketing, and medicating 3 horses and 1 donkey. The job also included mucking stalls and caring for a flock of chickens.

- Collected and entered 1200 giraffe measurements into an Excel datasheet- Conducted land cover classification from ground truth points- Created informative soil and vegetation maps in ESRI’s ArcMap software- Manipulated and analyzed data in Microsoft Excel and R/RStudio- Presented project findings at a virtual conference

I was the student community’s go-to person for their personal, social, and academic adjustments to the residence hall and to this school’s program as a whole. I help build community by creating a safe environment, implementing virtual social activities, practicing open communication, and providing readily available resources to all students.
