I am also the Chair of the Forensic Imagery Analysis Division of the Chartered Society of Forensic Science [FIAD]. I produce independent Imagery Interpretation reports in over 50 cases per year. In addition I also perform assessment and peer review on over 100 cases per year and provide mentoring to junior members of staff. Casework includes comparative interpretation on faces, clothing, weapons, vehicles, as well as mensuration, together with chronological reports, amongst others and is usually supported by specialist techniques such as photogrammetry, and stereoscopy. I have given evidence on such matters at the Central Criminal Court, Crown and Magistrates Courts and a Coroner’s Court for both prosecution and defence cases. As part of my role I also review and keep abreast of improvements in technology and consider areas for improvement in the role or processes that will have a positive impact on quality and effectiveness.
