Foreman And Garden Specialist
Walt Disney World Company
Lake Buena Vista, Florida
Started digging trees and learning Topiary maintenance at the Walt Disney World Tree Farm. I continued to develop my expertise in the maintenance side of horticulture by working at Grand Floridian Resort, Polynesian Resort and Disney Inn. I then transitioned from crew member to leader. The Yacht and Beach Resort was where I received my Foreman's training and then was asked to open Disney's Boardwalk Resort. Opening a resort involves trouble shooting new plant issues, irrigation flaws, and slowly taking possession of property care from the contractor. Following the successful opening, I moved to Blizzard Beach waterpark and then to Disney MGM Studios, where I was Foreman. My responsibilities at MGM Studios included: Horticultural care of many areas, Backstage Movie Sets, Backlot area, and The Icon in front of The Great Movie Ride (included several topiaries and press events). Next, I opened Disney's Coronado Springs Resort successfully, and then completed my career at Disney by actuating a Global Mow team that maintained the turf for Animal Kingdom and its resorts. All different resorts and parks provided a balanced experience of maintenance situations and different techniques depending on landscape themes and requirements.
