I am a university level educator in human biology, zoology, ecology, environmental science and sustainability. I have also been working in the field of educational materials development as a subject matter expert for approximately ten years. I also have expertise in leading undergraduate students on study abroad courses. I have been studying and working in the fields of tropical ecology, vertebrate physiology, ecology, environmental science, wildlife biology and sustainability for over 30 years. My experience includes hazardous waste site assessment and remediation, analytical chemistry, surveys for plant and animal species worldwide, federal fisheries observations on commercial shrimp and shark fishing boats in the Gulf of Mexico, and installing sustainable energy generating systems in homes in northwest Arkansas, USA.I have extensive experience in radio tracking wild animals. I have conducted surveys for reptiles and amphibians in the US, Belize, and Thailand. I also studied the diversity and function of gastrointestinal tract bacteria in snakes and other wild vertebrates in a laboratory setting using molecular techniques. I continue to publish my findings in peer reviewed journals and mentor graduate student research. I have taught ecology, environmental science, and human biology courses at universities and colleges throughout the world including Massey University in New Zealand, Rajamangala University Srivijaya – Trang, southern Thailand, University of Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas Community College and University of Nebraska. I facilitate study abroad courses in Ecology in Belize, Thailand, and Haiti and I mentor undergraduate and graduate student research. I serve as a faculty advisor to graduate student researchers at Suranaraee University of Technology in Thailand.My other interests include sustainable building and energy generation. I built my own solar powered, passive solar heated home. I play guitar, make wheel thrown pottery and am an avid mountain biker, canoer/kayaker, and outdoorsman.
