What exactly is experience design? Well, as a partner and experience designer at cadabra, I help bring my clients’ content to life through the power of immersive storytelling. I lead a team of technical experts and innovative artists in transforming stories—any story—into something people can touch, see, share and remember. For a museum, that might mean turning a crash-course in geology into an immersive journey, one with the audience at the heart of a spectacularly imagined adventure. For a city or community, it might be transforming a cultural destination into a living piece of history through a massive multi-sensory projection, or a theme-park-style ride inspired by the unique local heritage. For a real estate developer, it could be creating a virtual multisensory experience to bring the world a community concept that hasn’t even been built yet.Because I work directly with each client to identify the story they want to tell, every project is unique and the inspiration is endless. Together, we craft a vision that elevates the ordinary to extraordinary, then I design or oversee the synopsis, scenario scripting and lighting, audio and scenic elements, making sure our technical additions create something spectacular without sacrificing the original intention.
