Work on the Sync Gateway product as part of the mobile team - Triaging and fixing bugs - Adding quality of life improvements - Writing technical specifications for new features based on PRDs provided by Product Manager - Implementation of new features based on technical specifications - Working with other teams such as the SDK team when we need features implementing and the QE team to ensure the features are adequately tested

Following my Industrial Placement I stayed on providing software engineering services part-time for Couchbase whilst back at University. During this time I remained within the Sync Gateway team solving an array of tickets and improving the product as well as fixing many bugs that arose.One of the main achievements during this period was the development of a way to handle statistics within our product. This allowed the statistics to be easily managed within the development environment, making it easy to add to and modify. It also allowed stats to be exported in multiple formats: JSON and Prometheus. The requirement to support prometheus was added late into the development process and therefore this work had a time constraint associated with it.

I worked in two roles during my placement. I spent the majority of the time in a software development role within the mobile team working on the Sync Gateway product writing Golang. This is an area which I grew greatly in: I began to design features writing technical specifications for the feature and implementing it.I also spent time in the technical support role, providing customers with solutions to a wide array of issues relating to all areas of Couchbase products. During this role I also spent time writing internal tools for the support team to improve the teams capability to provide support in a timely and efficient manner.
