I advise the Prince William Sound Science Center staff as a member of the Board of Directors. The mission of PWSSC is to advance community resilience and the understanding and sustainable use of Coastal Alaska ecosystems.

I advise the Executive Secretaries and Directors of North Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organizations on the Basin-Scale Events to Coastal Impacts (BECI) project which grew out of the International Year of the Salmon. BECI is developing an international ocean intelligence system for the North Pacific Ocean that uses enhanced observations, numerical modeling, and data analytics infrastructure to provide timely and targeted information on the impacts of current and future climate events on ocean ecosystems.

I advise the US Delegation to the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission. The North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission (NPAFC) is an international inter-governmental organization established by the Convention for the Conservation of Anadromous Stocks in the North Pacific Ocean.

As the Chief Executive of Long Live the Kings (LLTK), I manage a public 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to restoring wild salmon and steelhead and supporting sustainable fishing opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. LLTK helps those who make decisions about salmon to be successful. We pursue projects and partnerships that compel coordinated, scientifically-credible, and transparent changes to harvest, hatchery, and habitat management to protect and restore wild salmon and fisheries in the face of climate change and other threats. We bring innovative tools, proven processes, and a track record of success to each of our projects.Since joining LLTK, we have expanded our influence to include a key leadership role on the regional Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council, representing those interested in wild salmon and steelhead recovery and sustainable fishing while working to integrate salmon recovery with broader efforts to recover the health of Puget Sound as a whole. I also serve on the Advisory Panel for the U.S. Section of the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission and as a member of the North Pacific Steering Committee of the International Year of the Salmon where I provide guidance and support for comprehensive ocean research programs looking at juvenile salmon and steelhead populations in the high seas. Through this work, LLTK has established a key technical role supporting steelhead, Chinook and Coho recovery planning and adaptive management across the northwest and the North Pacific. Long Live the Kings is a nimble, dynamic and influential conservation and sustainable fisheries NGO leading efforts to create a viable future for people and fish in the Pacific Northwest.

I was an advisor for this start-up company initially called OneOcean Corporation and focused on improving acquisition of, handling and serving Big Ocean Data. The effort evolved over time into developing tools to search and serve Big Data of any kind on handheld devices and the name changed to ClipCard.

-I developed a new program in Marine Conservation at The Nature Conservancy of Washington-I worked with partners to raise over $10 Million for a joint effort to protect and restore Puget Sound shorelines-My team worked with the state DNR to develop a new market-based Conservation Leasing Tool and establish the first ever Marine Conservation Lease on public lands-I helped complete the first spatialy explicit ecosystem assessment for the continental shelf off BC, Washington, Oregon and northern California-I partnered with the local Marine Resources Committee to develop a community-based, science-supported and goal-driven San Juans Marine Stewardship Area Plan-I focused The Nature Conservancy's efforts on coastal habitats and marine systems that had the greatest potential for lasting ecosystem function and support for coastal communities.

-I started and built a successful Habitat Restoration Program from scratch with generous support from the Pew Charitable Trusts-Our group pioneered applications of GIS to develop restoration and protection plans for major Puget Sound estuaries and published the results-Our group developed a robust citizen science program designed to collect information on shoreline habitat and land use, and used this information to prioritize protection and restoration actions-I helped initiate and oversee a $12 Million US Army Corps of Engineers Ecosystem Restoration Study of Puget Sound Shorelines which resulted in Congressional authorization for a nearly half billion dollar nearshore restoration program in the region-Our group found funding for and managed over 20 shoreline and estuarine habitat restoration and protection projects-I oversaw development of the Coastal Restoration Policy for Oregon, Washington and Alaska that became part of the National Estuary Restoration Act of 2000.

Studied hydrolysis and mineralization of chitin in the Delaware Estuary and Mid Atlantic Bight as part of a US Department of Energy funded evaluation of carbon flow in continental shelf ecosystems.

Studied zooplankton distribution, feeding and role in carbon cycling in the Equatorial Pacific Ocean as part of the National Science Foundation funded Joint Global Ocean Flux study.

Basic research on trophic dynamics of estuarine plankton communities.

Studied the seasonal dynamics of zooplankton in Chesapeake Bay in relation to low Oxygen and Anoxia supported by Maryland Sea Grant.

Studied egg production of copepods in response to suspended sediment levels supported by Louisiana Sea Grant.

Studying zooplankton populations and feeding in the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana estuaries and Subarctic Pacific Ocean.
