Network Technologist
CurrentResponsible for:• Develop and maintain network and security infrastructure to create a stable and efficient network to assist the client in meeting their strategic service delivery obligations• Liaison with client departments and business partners and vendors to ensure business requirements are met.• Rendering of desktop support to ensure business requirements are met.• Voice/telephonic technology support to assist business partners/end users to ensure their business requirements are met• Give inputs on technical matters regarding information technology requests from users via standard channels to improve service delivery• Plans, organizes and controls activities of subordinates and contractors who are responsible for the development of infrastructure to ensure effective service delivery• Prepares documentation to adhere to national, provincial and departmental standard , policies and procedures• Training new and existing staff on how to use new and existing TechnologyResponsibilities include:• Install, test, upgrade and relocate network resources to increase and maintain network capacity and efficiency• Provide third-line support to network/LAN users & technologists• Research other backup solutions for better redundancy and simplification of backup procedures• Carries out problem recognition, determination and resolution; liaising with vendors (Hardware and Software)• Monitors network, co-ordinates installations, upgrades or enhancements to networks and participates in evaluations of new products and networks.• Attend to all ad-hoc tasks/requests relating to network infrastructure like security needs to • Research new hardware and software to stay abreast with latest developments in the industry.• Assign trainees / contractor personnel to projects, direct and co-ordinate their work
