Solved build out issues for a world class semiconductor chemical clean products application lab in Danbury, CT. I revamped the DI water system, modified HVAC to decrease particle counts and installed processing tools to provide quality services (client customers and R&D), reduced down time caused by high particle counts by revamping internal particle and quality control systems and by correcting equipment issues; increased test accuracy and reduced repeat testing by creating standard clean evaluation procedures which aligned with customer expectations. During the build out, I managed the application evaluations for ATMI's photo chemical products. In this regard, I interfaced with ATMI's marketing and R&D organizations to support customer evaluations.

Within AMD's research fab, I developed & defined etch processes, documented and supported these processes and managed the acquisition of semiconductor tools: identifying technology needs, evaluated competitive OEM products, purchased equipment, oversaw installation, start-up and PM scheduling & optimization.Often many of the projects were done in a group environment, which entails interacting with many different people across the boundaries of differing areas of responsibility. I depended on effective interpersonal skills to keep the work environment productive and pleasant.Some of my projects/responsibilities were:1. I developed and integrated into the production flow novel clean techniques, which addressed BEOL low-k and copper integration issues (US 6,030,901 B1, US 6,235,453 B1)2. I discovered an innovative approach to SC1 cleans which was transferred to production improving FEOL cleaning efficiency 100% or more depending on the application (US 6,340,395 B1); this multi-step clean process was efficient at reducing low sized particles3. I identified and implemented a BEOL clean solution (US 6,274,504 B2), which increased yield from near zero to 90%+ by eliminating metal corrosion4. I reduced equipment based defects by 80% by managing a fab wide defect team; areas for improvement were identified by means of rigorous data gathering and analysis; improvements were consistently achieved each year by means of a collaborative effort on all levels5. I enabled the manufacturing of smaller geometries (.13 microns & lower) by forming and managing an integration team to address clean issues related to new FEOL and BEOL etch processes6. I led successful development and conversion to an optimized tungsten etch on the LAM Rainbow that improved the 486 line yield by 30% to 40%, which solved a significant product ramp issues

Consultant clients: Spectrian, Sensarray, ECI, ...I set up process control programs for photo aligners and photo track systems, improved manufacturability and yield for metal, oxide, and polysilicon etch processes and solved yield problems for a washed emitter process. I researched electrical properties of permalloy in a magnetic field for new product development

I optimized the poly etch process to improve yield (20%) on the Lam Rainbow etch tool; and solved metal etch arcing problems on the AMAT metal etcher tool.

I performed safety analysis of the piping systems, calculated various mechanical loads (thermal, seismic, etc. ), and designed supports to carry the loads.
