This award is provided to me by The Consulting Report in August 2023.September 2023 marks the halfway point for the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. During the 1st half, world society as a whole has not made sufficient progress in order to achieve the goals by 2030. As a result, the 2nd half (from 2023-2030) needs to be better. As the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Guterres recently said: “today’s global governance structures reflect yesterday’s world. The world has changed. Global governance must change with it”. I do agree and believe that a new form of multilateralism will be instrumental in delivering this breakthrough for people and planet. This new form of multilateralism should include a more active participation of the private sector to ‘step-up’. One of the breakthroughs for people and planet could be a new measurement framework for member states beyond GDP. Existing measurement frameworks for governments are not (yet) aligned with ESG frameworks under development for the private sector. Financing a sustainable transition should be redesigned, specifically the balance between the global North and Souths. The UN system could transform itself into an effective and inclusive global governance system for today and for the future.Global challenges require local solutions. I see for myself a role as a trusted advisor to accelerate 'solutions' for 'global challenges' in the Netherlands. By doing this I support small- en medium enterprises focused on entrepeneurship, sustainability and digitalisation. As a professional I do understand ‘people, process and technology’ challenges that private sector companies and public sector organisations in the Netherlands have.
