My personal experience, and knowledge, has made me aware of the wealth of problems faced by Carers. In particular I am interested in addressing the issue of a lack of information given to Carers of adults with disabilities and special needs. I feel passionately that the views of the public need to be given to service providers and commissioners to enable positive change to happen across health and social care.

The work makes a huge difference to carers struggling to cope with disabled and critically ill loved ones.

Rutland Rotaract Family Support Centre fondly known as The Family Centre is run by families for families. I along with the other trustees and committee member help to cater for families with a range of needs from Autism and ADHD, to physical and sensory impairment, genetic conditions such as Down's Syndrome, as well as those who have no formal diagnosis.The support offered is not restricted to the individual child or young person as the whole family is welcome to access any of our social events: the Summer Barbecue, Sunday lunches or regular Film Club. This gives families the chance to meet socially and many friendships have followed as a result.

• I learnt various assessment methods to be used in the nurseries and then taught the staff how to use the programmes e.g Orbit, Tapestry and now EyLog• I am on call to help with any IT issues that the staff may have• I attend various training sessions• I help to choose the IT equipment to be used by staff members and by the children• I also support parents to access their child’s on-line Learning Journey via whatever means that is suitable to them from telephone conversations to emails to meeting with them in the nursery

As the Chair of Rutland Parent Carer Voice I do several tasks.- I liaise with the Secretary/Clerk on the agenda and meeting arrangements.- I welcome members and introduce guests.- I try to ensure fair discussion and that everyone gets a chance to have their say.- I try to stop anyone taking over or dominating discussions.- I try get through the agenda on time.- I sum up issues, points and decisions.- ensure decisions are carried out.- I work with the Treasurer to ensure that proper financial accounts are prepared for meetings, including the Annual General Meeting.

My main duties were- To contribute to a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area, in conjunction with other staff.- Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.- Liaise with and support parents and other family members.- To attend out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parent's evenings, summer fayre, Christmas party, etc.- To be flexible within working practices of school/nurseries. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the school/nurseries, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.- Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the project is fulfilled.- Recording accidents in the accident book.- Look upon the Nursery as a "whole", where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children.- Ensure child is collected by someone known to school/nurseries.- Preparation and completion of activities to suite the child's stage of development.- To ensure mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing.- Washing and changing children as required.- Providing comfort and warmth to a poorly child.- To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.- To be aware of the high profile of the school/nurseries and to uphold it's standards at all times.
