In this high-profile management role, I oversawinternal communications in North America for Aon Corporation, a Fortune 200 global professional services firm. I developed multi-step communications plans, created and distributed critical messages to 17,000+ colleagues in North America, worked closely with the People Organization, Risk and Health leaders, executives and others to develop and distribute key messages and information to the appropriate audiences. A key part of my role was advising leaders on their communications strategy and messaging for maximum impact. I was an inaugural staff member of Making the Health Care System Work, a multimedia digital magazine aimed at healthcare stakeholders, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield corporate clients, insurance and healthcare industry leaders, and healthcare administrators . I specialized in writing about health equity and accessibility, as well as technology, insurance benefits and consumer trends. I also developed internal communications for the BCBS intranet, newsletter content for 1 million+ BCBS members, and marketing pieces. I frequently met with senior leadership to develop talking points and advise on messaging for a variety of communications.

I managed the three-member media relations staff for the largest U.S. healthcare accrediting organization while also providing strategic direction for long-term communication initiatives. I met with senior leadership to develop high-level statements on issues such as health equity, opioid abuse and quality and safety in healthcare organizations. I also led initiatives around issues such as infection prevention, high reliability and safety culture in health care environments. I led internal communications for a major building reconstruction that significantly changed how employees worked.
