Many youth age out of foster care without adequate independent living skills or housing. The Housing Homeless Youth work group is a sub group stemming from the larger Interagency Partnership to End Youth Homelessness aimed at addressing this issue. Specifically, the sub group partners with community organizations that are specifically working to s house youth and provide case management services around housing.This was a volunteer position.-Planned group meeting times and locations-Organized meeting agendas-Assisted in focusing group on tasks of the work group-Helped group to meet goals through verbal and written communication-Documented thoughts and ideas of the work group at each meeting-Updated each work group member of the group’s progress through constant contact

-Reviewed grant applications for Seed Entrepreneurship Grant-Prepared and help plan Community Safety Initiative for Highland Park-Assisted in developing initiatives and community partnerships

-Assessed families in the home or school setting to determine strengths and needs using standardized assessment tool-Informed families of community resources to meet identified needs-Created goal-oriented service plans for families-Referred and coordinated prevention/wrap around services to support families-Maintained paper and electronic records of each family

This association works to advance the situation and remove stigma for students and residents of color in Richmond, Virginia through African-centered social work practice. This chapter is a part of the National Association for Black Social Workers.-Planned and organize forums-Led fundraising efforts-Maintained financial records-Networked with organizations and divisions on campus-Recruited new members-Communicated with national chapter

The Governor's Fellows Program is a prestigious internship opportunity established in 1982. -Entered data that assisted with tracking and evaluating efforts to for alternative breakfast and school lunch programs through the No Kid Hungry campaign-Researched narratives of families impacted by current SNAP requirements and income thresholds-Coordinated outreach efforts to raise awareness about USDA sponsored free summer meal programs -Assisted with organizing Capitol office wide food drive resulting in 1200 pounds of food donated to Feedmore

Higher Achievement is a program that works to close the achievement gap for middle school youth through an afterschool program and summer academy.-Helped scholars with homework -Taught literature, poetry, and grammar-Fostered growth of scholars by imparting lessons on life skills by talking and interacting

VCU ASPiRE is a fairly program that teaches a student cohort how to engage in the community through service and education.-Volunteered at many nonprofit organizations around Richmond to build sustainable relationships with the organization. -Took seminars on homeless and community story telling-Learned about community engagement and challenges of the community in order to raise awareness and devise strategies to meet community needs

Peter Paul Development Center is a nonprofit organization that educates the child, engages the family and empowers the community through afterschool programs, the Family Promise Network, and its food distribution program.-Helped plan and organize a family strengthening workshop that focused on parenting and healthy family functioning-Promoted community events such as their annual Info Feast through flying and contacting community members
