About Jada Hoyle-Gardner, Ph.D.

As a two-time HBCU graduate (Spelman College and Florida A&M University), Dr. Jada Hoyle-Gardner understands the impact that an inclusive and diverse education has on the minds of young scientists. Her academic research experiences include a diverse training in microbiology, environmental toxicology, and chemical biology. Dr. Hoyle-Gardner is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University as a FIRST (Fellowships in Research and Science Teaching) IRACDA Fellow. Combining her love for chemistry and health equity, her current research investigates utilizing computational and molecular tools to understand the health effects of pollutants on the microbiome of mothers and their infants from low to middle income communities. In addition to her extensive laboratory skills background, Dr. Hoyle-Gardner has built great communication and management skills by training other laboratory colleagues/students. Her love for STEM education has led her to a place in the classroom teaching introductory biology courses. She also gives her time as an educational STEM leader to elementary students and high schoolers through tutoring sessions and aiding in fun "laboratory" activities. Her dedication to diversity and inclusion shows as she also works on the outreach and community engagements by being on the E-Board for the Emory Postdoctoral Council for Diversity.
