In becoming a public health professional after graduating from the University of South Florida with my Bachelors of Science in Public Health, I have developed a deep passion for educating others on the importance of health and nutrition. This same passion led me to pursue and obtain my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics along with my RDN accreditation and Florida state licensure. While these educational achievements have brought great knowledge, being a part of the community has brought me a greater understanding of how nutrition can be utilized to prevent numerous disease processes. Joining the Public Health Scholars, for instance, ensured I was able to make connections with other public health professionals, and acquire the skills needed to make a positive impact in the field. I was further enlightened through the journey of completing my six-month long didactic internship. During this time, I worked with organizations such as Moffitt Cancer Center, Special Olympics, and long-term care facilities which further elicited the prominence of negative health impacts caused by inadequate public health services in our communities. Through these experiences, I have come to understand the need for increased disease prevention strategies, and therefore public health, in all facets of our community.
