Senior residential assistants must be active parts of the college community, engaging with residents and forming connections. These connections are integral to providing support to all individuals, whether of an academic or private nature. I am also involved with creating events which encourage friendships between residents and a greater care for the world external to college, for example through celebration of key awareness days.

As a science tutor for other college residents, it is expected that a high level of academic excellence is maintained. Tutoring is given for subjects previously taken, with the aim to encourage positive study habits and improve results.

The role of a residential assistant is to support other college residents. An open, welcoming demeanour is essential to this, and individuals must feel comfortable to ask for help when needing assistance. Heightened emotional intelligence is also required to identify residents who are struggling, and approach in a sensitive manner.
