I applied for the position for a Wins tutor for year 2. This involved taking legal skills and ideas that the students would need in order to help them through their law degree. This initiative was set up for students who had already done the process to guide and offer advice based on our experience. It involved research skills and how to look at something objectively and to take statistic about the legal sector in order to initiate debate that I would facilitate.

Communicating over the phone is very different to face to face interaction. The tone and the pitch of your voice on the phone are essential especially when that is all you have when communicating with a customer. We experienced an intensive 6 week training where one of the most important things that we learnt is to gage a person in the initial seconds of the phone call. We also had to maintain the high quality of the service expected. People don’t ring customer services unless they have a problem and making sure to remain positive and calm is essential as well as trying to listen to the customer when they are venting to get to the root of the issue they are calling regarding and getting that issue resolved.

Here I was predominately a Picker. This entailed working on heavy machinery and making sure that the items picked were in good condition, if they were not this would affect the chain throughout Next and the customer would not get there item on time which would reflect poorly on the business.

. I learnt to communicate ideas simpler and more clearly as generally their English was limited. Also, it helped my research skills and being able to look at big chunks of information and being able to pick out the one that was most relevant to the asylum case that were being worked on. Generally, there were a couple people working on a case at the same time as to facilitate the large research areas. This help especially with cases that had been going on for years and the need to pool ideals and share the work load. Also, administrative duties were pivotal to the role being supportive to the cases that needed priority as well as working on the cases that we were assigned to.

I was predominantly a packer, i was in charge of getting peoples orders ready for delivery. The package had to look in good order but also had to be done efficiently. As i was on a bonus system i generally had to do one batch of 120 in 30 mins. I obviously handled good to put them in parcels.
