I didn't see people who looked like me in my classroom, which made me question if I would be accepted in the financial industry. During my internship, I worked for a Black Woman CPA who exposed me to QuickBooks, ProSeries, and the value of humility in accounting. She encouraged me to pursue a CPA license and to stay engaged with my community because accounting is about helping people.

However, what made me value this experience was the fact that I was able to build my business skillset, while also contributing to the organization's work of funding projects that would improve NYC neighborhoods.
