My unique skill set encompasses more than 20 years experience in construction, geotechnical engineering, and materials testing. Currently an ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician, Level 1 (which encompasses 3 additional ACI laboratory certifications), and working toward acquiring NICET soils, asphalt and concrete certifications. Starting as a lab technician gave me a strong foundation in the importance of soil/materials testing by performing tests, and providing accurate test results per ASTM, AASHTO, Caltrans and DOTD methods. I then moved into estimating, learning industry codes (ACI, AISC/AWS, ICC, etc), and plan reading for estimating and proposal/RFP/RFQ response and preparation. I managed projects through completion, including all aspects of provided services ensuring the client was pleased and services performed within budget. Throughout the years, I have performed hands on laboratory and field testing of various fill materials, soil-cement, lime treated soil, asphalt, concrete, shotcrete, concrete/shotcrete/asphalt cores, masonry units, mortar, grout, composite prisms, rebar, expansion and epoxy bolts, fireproofing (SFRM), roofing, and many other elements. Additional skills include laboratory set up, USACE, AASHTO and CCRL accreditation, equipment calibration and maintenance, report and invoice review, change order preparation, lead research and "cold calling", jobsite visits for pre-bid and pre-con meetings and issue resolution, attend marketing events, mix design/drawing/specs/RFI/addenda review, laboratory/field inventory, acquire and train laboratory/field personnel, review/approve invoices, personnel hours, and negotiate vendor rates.
