I provided legal advice to, and conducted litigation on behalf of ASIC in relation to breaches of the Corporations Act, relevant State and Commonwealth criminal legislation and other financial services legislation.My primary duties included:- Providing legal advice to guide investigation teams, particularly regarding the evidence required to prove contraventions of relevant legislation, admissibility of evidence in Court and ASIC's investigatory powers.- Commencing and conducting civil litigation in the Supreme Court and Federal Court in consultation with Special Counsel.- Compiling criminal briefs for the Commonwealth DPP.- Influencing and discussing the preparation and conduct of prosecutions with the Commonwealth DPP.- Managing and advising on requirements for compiling administrative briefs to ASIC delegates, liaising with delegates and representing ASIC at delegate hearings.- Representing ASIC in communication with external parties in relation to legal issues arising during the course of investigations. I was placed in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution team and conducted a broad range of legal work for various State government agencies. My main practice areas included civil claims brought against Victoria Police; claims for compensation brought against the State; coronial inquests and costs recovery.

My primary role was as a prosecutor in the Counter Terrorism Unit. This is a specialist team which undertakes large volume, high profile and complex litigation. I balanced this work with my duties as sole case officer in a broad range of smaller prosecutions for different agencies across Federal government.
