Profile bio

About Jade Roberts

I love to research, think, talk and write about international law and how it can better address global problems of displacement and statelessness. I’m doing a PhD on alternative approaches to ensuring the rights of stateless people are protected in international law. I also teach human rights law. And I’m thrilled to be working alongside brilliant researchers who share my passion in the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness. I’m also a lawyer and in a past life was a Registered Migration Agent, and I’ve helped asylum seekers apply for protection and assisted bring human rights cases to court. I’ve also gained an insight into the making of international law as an intern with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva. Beyond displacement and statelessness, I care about other rights issues, and recently worked with two professors on a book, Open Minds, about academic freedom and freedom of speech in Australian universities. I co-manage the Statelessness and Citizenship Review, so if you’re an academic writing on these issues, feel free to reach out!

Listed skills include Research, Academic Writing, University Teaching, Public International Law, and 21 others.
