I support the Faculty of Science with general HR advice, change management, disciplinaries, sickness absence management, capability, grievances and much more. I also work on projects across the HR and Organisational Development team to support the wider University initiatives. My interests involve supporting disabled staff accessing work and other ED&I initiatives as well as supporting Marie Curie recruitment across the University.

I managed the recruitment workload in both the Faculty of Engineering and the AMRC. My daily activities included processing visas for both in country and out of country applications, advertising vacancies, writing contracts, making contract changes, running reports and exploring anomalies, and advising on generalist HR queries. I was also involved in case work and supported my HR Advisor through policy guidance, staff file management and note taking. I am an expert in the field of Tier 2 (General) migrant and Tier 5 (Government Authorised Exchange) migrant guidance.

I processed a large recruitment workload within the general NHS departments and had exposure to medical interviews. I ensured pre-employment checks were completed promptly and met the Agenda for Change, NHS and hospital’s requirements. I was involved in project teams working on apprenticeships and gave presentations to aspiring potential apprentices to promote the opportunities within the NHS. I am confident and knowledgable in the NHS Jobs site and affiliated software.

I was a Graduate Intern at Sheffield Hallam University. My role was with the Faculty of Development and Society working with Student Services to improve the student experience for Teacher Education and Humanities students. My role was to develop, enhance and deliver projects that contribute to the student experience and increase the employment prospects of students within the faculty. I also provided administrative support as part of the Student Services team.

Tasks included working on the bar to ensure the best level of customer service was given to our members, and members of the public who may visit, or have their function held in the bar. Through Nuffield Health I went on a Costa Coffee barista course to make coffee at the high standards of the Costa company, the training also meant that I was qualified to teach others how to serve the Costa standard of coffees.

I have always been dedicated to self-improvement and encouraging others to achieve their highest potential. I was a mentor for pupils aged 8-10 at Monteney Primary School as part of a Sheffield City Council scheme called ESCAL (Every Sheffield Child Articulate and Literate).I wanted to develop my skills of time management by planning work sessions for the children whilst studying in my final year of University. Not only did I learn how to plan my time effectively but I also learned how to get the best out of people through making engaging sessions and encouraging my pupils to keep trying and realise their potential. Both of the children I mentored for reading difficulties went up a reading age in the 4 months I mentored them (2 hours per week). This gave me great satisfaction as I felt that I had not only developed myself but also that my efforts had had a profound impact on the pupils.
