About Jade Singleton

“Connecting, Coaching & Caring in a Diverse Mining World”I’ve gained a diversified level of mining engineering experience by being involved in various areas of the mining process, working in different environments such as FIFO, DIDO & office based work, and a mixture of consulting experience & working for large resources companies. I strongly believe that inclusion & diversity need to be a part of our everyday work environment. I enjoy working as part of a cohesive team who have positive passion and who are invested in finding the best solutions. I'm enthusiastic in mentoring, sponsoring & coaching those around me & believe that the 'whole self' needs to be considered with respect to facing challenges & exploring opportunities. It is essential to the happiness of teammates & the success of a business that people should be understood on their individuality.I’m actively involved in encouraging students into STEM by annually volunteering at events such as Curtin’s “Focus in Mining”, Curtin Careers Open Days, CME Inspiring Girls program & previously coordinated the Boddington Bauxite Mines 'Inspiring Careers' program for local high school students.I been a volunteer with "Get Into Resources" since 2016, become a committee member in 2019 & I was voted as Chair in 2021.I'm excited to announce that in July 2021 I was successful in gaining a position on the NAWO WA committee, and these associations, along with my membership to AusIMM & WimWA, assist me in connecting with others and to continually grow & expand my knowledge on how to be more effective & make a positive impact on the world around me.As a previous council member for the WA School of Mines (WASM) Alumni for 6yrs & continuing active Alumni member, I endeavour to involve & assist graduates in realising their true potential & to assist them in recognising the opportunities available to them.

    Worsley Alumina
This role was created to address concerns of disengaged staff, low levels of gender diversity & a recognised issue of distrust between the workforce and leaders. It was originally a 12mth secondment, but the second week on the job I was asked to continue in a permanent capacity. This role involved many varied tasks, including:• Connecting with people at all 3 sites – Boddington Mine, Collie Refinery & Bunbury Port,• Initiating the Worsley Inclusion Network (WIN), which was a group of volunteers who wanted to make our workplace more inclusive for all employees. We brainstormed, voted on & implemented initiatives we thought would shift the dial to encourage a more inclusive work place. Some fantastic initiatives have been implemented that have made a positive difference in people’s lives (eg. Myth Busters, Site Newsletter, Awareness initiatives, etc),• Collaborating with the Culture & Capability team (Perth based) to understand results from our annual Employee Perception Survey, and working within the framework they created, Three Pillars of Focus,• Coordinating a Keeping In Touch quarterly forum to update employees on long term leave (including parental leave) of business news, but also a forum to connect with each other and often their line leaders,• Coordinating our Worsley Family day, where employees could bring their families to work. This has multiple benefits by engaging staff to take pride in their work place and letting their ever supportive families come and see where their family member works. This activity had not been done for 5 years.
