Whilst working here, I have gained a great insight into the world of optics. My job role as an Optical Assistant has allowed me to expand my knowledge which ensures clients receive the appropriate care and assistance required for each individual’s needs. My daily tasks include managing the reception area, organising appointments, conducting Colorimetry Testing, contact lense dispensing, drafting confidential documents, dispensing glasses to patients, conducting visual screen testing and usage of the OptoMap to take photographs of the back of each patient’s eye and ordering anything that the practice may require.During my employment here, I was blessed with partnering with The Eye Clinic in Aberdeen for glaucoma patient screening.

During my time working for BP at ASCO Group as a materials administrator (first point of call), I’ve gained a lot of knowledge within the oil and gas industry through various tasks which include sourcing quotations, raising purchase orders, maintaining deliveries, ordering PPE, organising staff training, checking delivery documents, conducting stock return transactions, archiving and document control recording and providing support for the base management and supervisors, giving assistance when required. I have also learned how to use Maximo, SAP and AX programs on an independent basis.During my employment here, I was blessed with the responsibility of training individuals within the SAP Program for a major overseas project with Clair Ridge.

During my summer, I gained full time, temporary employment with Wood Group PSN within their recruitment agency Alta Blue. Whilst I was employed here, I created contracts for workers and discussed any queries they may have about their new contract to work, I helped the future growth team in finding suitable candidates for a huge BP overseas project, I formatted CVs for local and international employees before they applied for a job position, and occasionally collected employee's person and banking information and added them to the company spreadsheet. In terms of new experiences in software, I learnt how to use oracle on an independent basis.

Within six months of joining this company, I had been promoted from Grocery Assistant to Sales Assistant as I was promptly trained on the check out; which has in turn allowed me to train co-workers on to the checkouts if necessary. However, I returned to Masson and Glennie on a part time basis whilst studying until I was due to sit my first set of university exams. During my employment, I gained general administration skills such as typing up spreadsheets, filling in databases, retrieved files and scanned files. As well as this, I gained administrative experience in Legal software such as Partner and managed the online filing system so that each solicitor or estate agent was aware as to where each individual document was located. As well as developing administrative experience, I gained receptionist experience in controlling the switchboard of both Peterhead and Fraserburgh offices. During such a duty, I was responsible for booking, changing and cancelling appointments as well as advising callers what specialist solicitor or estate agent they required.
