'It is estimated that at any given time up to 200,000 children in the UK are affected by having a parent or close family member in prison. This is more than the number affected by divorce.'I currently work for Ormiston Families and am the Senior Practitioner for the Breaking Barriers service for Suffolk. Breaking Barriers is programme which provides one-to-one support for children and young people (aged 5-16) affected by familial imprisonment.Breaking Barriers works within schools, homes and safe places and enables children to talk and play and explore how they are feeling with the aim to maintain a relationship between them and their imprisoned family member and break down barriers which may inhibit this.

I worked for the Student services team last semester and wrote academic notes for individuals with a disability. This role was highly rewarding as it enabled me to build a rapport with students, enabling them to obtain comprehensive notes form their lectures and support them in their learning.

I worked for The University of Suffolk as part of a 2 month internship, for the quality assurance and enhancement team and also the equality and diversity team. This was an administrative role which required student and staff engagement. I worked closely with many services at the University and created some documents which I was very proud of including safeguarding documents for children and adults and also a document regarding a possible action plan in regards to sexual violence on campus.
